How do I post a plug online?

If you are currently on the homepage please enter desired state name in the search box. Once you are viewing a state page select a specific sub category. On the upper right hand corner of every page you will see the words Post Plug, once this link is clicked a publishing form will appear. Fill in all relevant fields and select the "continue with this posting" button link. Review your posting, then select "Process this posting." Upon clicking the "Process this posting" a confirmation screen will appear, please read this screen carefully and follow directions. Upon successfully submitting the form, you should receive an email containing a link that will enable you to self-publish or make any last-minute changes to your plug. If and when satisfied with your posting proceed by clicking "Publish Posting".

How do I know where to post my plug?

We recommend that you post plugs in your geographic location. Every state has its own PlugStar community. Crossing into areas outside of your geographic location may not help you make realistic connections through our site. We are a local community style directory. Why pay shipping fees if you don't have to?

What happens after I elect to process my posting?

Soon after you submit your plug for posting, you should receive an email containing a link that will enable you to self-publish your posting. At this time you should make any last-minute changes. If satisfied with the appearance of your posting proceed by clicking "Publish Posting" Once published, your post will appear on the site within minutes. Please remember to keep this email, because you may want to use this link at a later date to edit, or delete the posting at a later time. All plugs remain on PlugStar.com for 10 days unless otherwise noted. During our Beta stage of development you plug may post longer.

Where is my posting?

Postings will not appear automatically, you must follow the verification steps to publish your posting online. The posting process can take as long 5 minutes from the time you publish the posting until it appears on our site. If you would like to check out your posting, go to the sub category where you previously posted and look under the date it was submitted. If you plug is nowhere to be found and you have followed our publishing procedures, please wait patiently and refreshed your browser. If your plug doesn’t surface within a considerable amount of time our Flag It Tool may have deleted the plug for reasons PlugStar.com deemed inappropriate.

I didn't receive the verification email with self-publishing link?

If you have taken all the necessary steps to successfully submit your posting and have not received the verification email to publish your plug, please check the following: Make sure you entered your email address correctly on the posting form; sometimes the smallest typographical mistake can disable the process. Your email was intercepted by an optimized email service. Occasionally, these filters will disable our self-publishing relay tool. We also recommend that you check your Junk/Spam/Bulk mail related folder(s). Sometimes, it can take up to 8 minutes to receive this verification email. If your posting contains a virus our server will automatically detect and kill the posting process and record your information. If you do not receive your self publishing email please contact us.

How do I include a picture or document in my posting?

If you would like to include a picture you may do one of two options: browse your personal computer and select the file to which you wish to include in your posting. Upon completing the publishing process your picture or document will be uploaded along with your posting. A small camera icon will symbolize your uploaded attachment. Please review our requirements for uploading sizes before attaching files. The second option is just as simple and even more personal. Go to Photo Bucket and sign up for the greatest FREE image hosting account. Photo Bucket allows direct hot-linking and provides direct/hot-linking, 100 megs disk space, 2,500 megs bandwidth per month (~70K hits). Absolutely no pornographic images allowed on either site.

What types of files can be uploaded and is there a size limitation?

If you wish to upload an image or document file you may do so by using the form browse button located on selected category forms. All images must be .jpg format and no larger than 100KB, and uploaded documents should be formatted using MS Word (*.doc), Adobe Acrobat (*.pdf), Rich Text Format (*.rtf), and plain text files (*.txt) only.

If I post a plug on your site how will people to contact me if they are interested in my advertisement?

Our posting forms will ask you to select a reply type so users can notify you of there interest. You may select to use your personal email address, request a temporary PSEUDO anonymous (incog-00001 @ plugstar.com) email address that can provide a privacy buffer between you and the public, or you can leave no email address and supply your contact information in the posting itself.

How do I contact or reply to someone's posting?

If you would like to reply to particular plug you can do so by clicking on the reply-to email address in the upper left corner of the posting. Some reply-to addresses are listed anonymously to create a privacy buffer between you and the public. (example: incog-00001 @ plugstar.com) your email will still be received by the author of the plug.

Does PlugStar get involved with fraudulent services and, or transactions?

At the present time we are working on creating a protection service, however, our resources are currently limited, therefore we can only provide support by pointing you in the right direction. We will work with individuals and local authorities to help resolve matters the best we can. Since our scope is limited we suggest contacting your local officials if something should go wrong.

Once published, how long will my plug remain active online?

All plugs published online will be automatically deleted 30 days from date posted. If you wish to remove your plug early you may do so by selecting to delete on the verification email.

What does the "Flag It" tool do?

In order to promote and maintain a professional community driven service we at PlugStar.com ask that our followers help monitor the content of our friendly site by using our Flag It Tool. By using our monitoring device located on each page users can take action against site abuse. If you come across a plug that you feel takes away from the integrity, or jeopardizes the quality of our site, please flag it with care. If any plug is flagged several times that particular author will be automatically notified and the posting will be put on alert status until revised, or if need be the plug will be removed from our site. One flag per IP address is counted against the said posting. If your posting is being removed repeatedly from our site please act accordingly by revising your posting so we can deem your contribution appropriate. Please do not email us if your posting is removed.

Would linking to the subscription service be good for me?

If you would like our automated system to send plugs directly to your email address then you should think about linking to our subscription database. If you are looking for something specific, or time is of the essence this may be what you need. This feature is not yet operational.

What are Employer Plug Accounts (EPA) and how can I get one?

An Employer Plug Account is a great way for companies to search and locate a top candidate for a job opening. By enrolling in the EPA program companies can easily address recruiting needs in an organized and effective manner. This feature is not yet operational.

Can I include third party links in my posting?

You may include third party links in your posting, however, we do not allow address links that lead to Adware, Spyware and Pornware programs. These malicious programs are strictly forbidden. Any posting associated with these types of intrusive parasites will be removed without notice and the posters IP address will be blacklisted and eventually banned from the site. We have a zero tolerance policy regarding this matter.
